Hot Rods rally to walk off Dayton

Emilio Gustave’s sacrifice fly in the ninth inning capped an 8-7 come-from-behind win for the Bowling Green Hot Rods over the Dayton (Ohio) Dragons on Sunday at Bowling Green Ballpark.

Bowling Green (89-49 overall, 42-27 second half) trailed 4-0 after four and 6-2 heading into the bottom of the eighth before scoring six runs in the final two innings.

Roberto Hernandez’s two-run homer in the eighth, his 21st of the season, capped a four-run rally that tied the score 6-6.

Dayton (58-79, 27-42) regained the lead on a solo homer by Jonathan India in the top of the ninth, but Alexander Alvarez doubled home the tying run and pinch runner Jake Stone scored on Gustave’s fly ball to right for the game winner.

Hernandez finished with four hits, while Jim Haley and Justin Bridgman added three hits each.

Matt Seelinger earned the win, his first decision as a Hot Rod. 

Bowling Green will wrap up the regular season against Dayton at 12:05 p.m. on Monday.
