Hot Rods, Lugnuts split series

The Lansing (Mich.) Lugnuts secured a split of a four-game series with a 7-4 win over the Bowling Green Hot Rods on Tuesday in Lansing.
Lansing scored five times in the fifth inning to chase starter Tommy Romero and give the right-hander his first loss since joining the Hot Rods in late May. Romero (9-4) allowed seven runs – equaling a season-high – in 4 2/3 innings to drop to 6-1 as a Hot Rod.
Moises Gomez paced the offense with two hits, including a homer, and three runs scored.
Bowling Green (77-43 overall, 30-21 second half) will open a three-game series at Great Lakes (Mich.) at 6:05 p.m. CDT on Wednesday.
