Campbell pitches Hot Rods to 6-0 victory over South Bend

The Bowling Green Hot Rods earned win No. 73 on the season, defeating the South Bend Cubs 6-0 Saturday at Bowling Green Ballpark.
Paul Campbell earned his second straight shutout win at home, improving to 2-0 with the Hot Rods.
In the first inning, the Hot Rods got started early. Vidal Brujan led off with a triple to right field. Taylor Walls followed with a walk and then stole second. Two batters later, Moises Gomez scored them both on a single, making it 2-0 Hot Rods. Trey Hair followed the Gomez knock with an RBI single of his own, and BG led 3-0.
Brujan came up in the fifth after singling in his second at-bat and hit a home run to right field, making it 4-0 Hot Rods.
In the sixth, Zach Rutherford worked a one-out walk and came around to score on a sac fly from Devin Davis to put the Hot Rods up by five.
Brujan finished the scoring when he reached on an error in the seventh and scored two batters later on a single from Carl Chester.
Campbell earned the win for the Hot Rods. He threw six innings, allowing three hits and two walks, striking out three. He has allowed just three runs in 16 2/3 innings as a Hot Rod.
