Hot Rods drop 5-3 decision to Timber Rattlers

The Bowling Green Hot Rods dropped a 5-3 decision in the rubber match of a three-game series as the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers scored two runs in the seventh inning to earn the win in Appleton, Wis.
Bowling Green (43-14) got two hits apiece from Ronaldo Hernandez, Trey Hair and Jim Haley.
Hot Rods pitcher Phoenix Sanders (5-2, 2.76) took the loss. He threw 1 1/3 innings, allowing three hits and two runs. He walked one and struck out three.
Paul Campbell made his Hot Rods debut Monday. He threw 4 2/3 innings, allowing eight hits and three runs, all earned. He did not allow a walk and struck out three.
Bowling Green will return home after the off day Tuesday and open a seven-game homestand Wednesday with the first of three against the Great Lakes Loons. Neither team has announced a starter. First pitch from Bowling Green Ballpark is set for 6:35 p.m.
