Hot Rods fall at Beloit

The Bowling Green Hot Rods opened a three-game series at Beloit (Wis.) with a 7-3 loss Wednesday.
Despite three hits from Eleardo Cabrera, Bowling Green (64-31 overall, 17-9 second half) fell into a 4-1 deficit after four innings, was unable to recover and dropped the opener of a six-game road trip.
Carl Chester had two hits and drove in a run, while Vidal Brujan added a hit and an RBI.
Alex Valverde took the loss to drop to 5-6 on the season. Valverde allowed six runs on six hits in five innings.
The series continues at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Right-hander Tommy Romero (6-3, 2.29) is scheduled to start for the Hot Rods. Left-hander Ivan Andueza (1-5, 4.95) is scheduled to start for Beloit.
