Elkins pitches shutout; WC North reaches title game

Camden Elkins pitched a one-hit shutout and the bats of the Warren County North 11- and 12-year-old All-Stars did the rest in a 14-0 victory over Franklin-Simpson in the District 1 Little League championship Monday at Phil Moore Park.
Warren County North moves on to play Owensboro Southern in the title game at 7 p.m.
Elkins had seven strikeouts and allowed one hit and a walk over four innings. Drake Young went 3-for-3 at the plate with a home run.
Owensboro Southern 6, WC South 2
The Warren County South 11- and 12-year-old All-Stars responded too late and fell 6-2 to Owensboro Southern in the District 1 Little League Tournament semifinals Monday.
Conner Cobb hit an RBI triple to score Preston Burns in the top of the sixth and Cobb scored on a wild pitch for the only two runs for WC South.
Cobb and Andrew Coffey combined for 11 strikeouts on the mound.

BG East 20, Franklin-Simpson 0
The Bowling Green East 9- and 10-year-old All-Stars wasted no time dominating Franklin-Simpson to advance to the championship game.
BG East scored 10 runs in the first inning and three pitchers combined for a two-hit shutout in a 20-0 win in the District 1 Little League Tournament semifinals Monday at Phil Moore Park.
Jackson Lee, Lincoln Fowler and Landon Gilbert each pitched one inning and combined for five strikeouts in the three-inning victory.
BG East had 15 hits, led by three apiece from Gilbert and Griffin Veazey, who finished with two doubles and three RBIs.
BG East will play Owensboro Southern in the District 1 championship game Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Phil Moore Park.

Warren County South 11
Owensboro Southern won a 17-11 shootout against Warren County South to set up a championship game against BG East.
Jack Gentry, Jacob Lobb, Jaxen Decker and Justin Capps each had multiple hits for WC South.

BG East 10, Logan County 0
Luke Idlett pitched a complete game, allowing just two hits in a 10-0 shutout win over Logan County on Monday in pool play of the 10- and 11-year-old All-Stars District 1 Tournament.
BG East scored eight runs in the fourth inning to break open a tight game and end it early. Idlett and Matthew Escalara each had two hits for BG East.
