WC South 11-12 all-stars rack up 21 hits in district win

The Warren County South 11- and 12-year-old all-stars exploded for 21 hits to defeat Franklin-Simpson 14-2 Saturday in District 1 pool play at Phil Moore Park.

James Russell fell one triple short of a cycle after going 4-for-4 at the plate with two singles, a double and a second-inning home run.

Connor Cobb also homered and joined Andrew Coffey, Keenan Briggs, Easton Talley and Preston Burns as players with two hits. Jake Russell also batted 4-for-4 and Andrew Milam collected three hits.

The Russell duo combined to pitch four innings with seven strikeouts while surrendering four hits.

Warren County South will play Hopkinsville on Sunday at 5 p.m.

BG East 12, Hopkinsville 2

Bowling Green East scored in every inning to defeat Hopkinsville 12-2 in four innings Saturday night in pool play. Aiden Kolzow, Reed Richey and Kolby Price-Matlock each had RBI singles as part of a five-run fourth inning to seal the win.

Ethan Madison’s RBI double scored Ben Davenport to set the 10-run differential.

Richey led with two hits for Bowling Green East, which plays Franklin-Simpson on Sunday at 7 p.m.

Owensboro South 7, WC North 6

Owensboro South rallied for four runs in the bottom of the sixth and won on a walk-off walk to defeat Warren County North 7-6.

Warren County North held a four-run lead before allowing a comeback with two outs. Owensboro South scored the final two runs on walks.

Tucker Stringfield went 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs and two runs scored for Warren County North. His two-run home run in the fourth inning gave Warren County South a 5-0 lead before falling in the last inning.

BG East 12, Hopkinsville 2

Andru Jones led with three hits and a pair of RBIs to help Bowling Green East over Hopkinsville 12-2 in pool play Saturday morning. BG East scored eight runs in the bottom of the fourth inning in the shortened run-rule win.

Lincoln Fowler, Jackson Lee and Griffin Veazey each had two hits for BG East, which moves on to play East Daviess on Sunday at 9 a.m. to wrap up pool play.

Cameron Obee had nine strikeouts and allowed just one hit in 3 2/3 innings.

WC South 15, WC North 0

Six runs in the top of the fifth inning sealed the deal in Warren County South’s 15-0 win over Warren County North on Saturday morning.

John Kincaid, Ethan Wheeler and Lukas Peterson combined for the six-hit shutout for Warren County South, which plays Logan at 11 a.m. Sunday. Kincaid pitched three innings with four strikeouts.

Warren County South took a 5-0 lead with three runs scored on Caden McIntyre’s single in the third.

Carson Choate and Andrew Barbalas each had two hits for Warren County North.

BG East 10, East Daviess 0

Bowling Green East got started with four runs in the first inning and rolled to a 10-0 win over East Daviess in pool play.

Luke Idlett went 4-for-4 at the plate and scored three runs while BG East totaled 11 hits. Chaze Huff, Grayson Newman and Jackson Idlett combined to throw a two-hit shutout.

BG East will play Owensboro South on Sunday at 3 p.m.

WC South 11, WC North 7

Brady Patterson had two RBIs and scored two runs in Warren County South’s 11-7 win over Warren County North.

Jameson Napper struck out five batters and Brady Patterson had four strikeouts as the two combined for 4 1/3 innings pitched.

Warren County South pulled away from a one-run lead with four runs in the top of the fifth on Patterson’s two-run single and Napper’s two-run hit.

Kaiven Hinton, Caiden Robinson, Brett Campbell and Wyatt Gravil all had one hit for Warren County North.{&end}
