Hot Rods pick up 1-0 shutout victory over Dayton Dragons

The Bowling Green Hot Rods shut out the Dayton Dragons 1-0 on Saturday night in Dayton, Ohio.
Bowling Green’s Tommy Romero got the start and only allowed two hits, and Tyler Zombro finished the game out of the pen.
The Hot Rods (39-21) scored the only run of the game in the second inning when first baseman Devin Davis singled to leadoff. He advanced to third base on a double from Chris Betts, and scored on a ground out from Emilio Gustave to make it 1-0.
Romero threw six innings and allowed only two hits, three walks and picked up four strikeouts. Dayton’s Hunter Greene almost matched Romero pitch for pitch, allowing just the one run in five innings.
The Dragons threatened in the fourth when Jeter Downs was thrown out at home on a hard ground ball to third base. The Dragons loaded the bases with two outs, but Hot Rods second baseman Vidal Brujan made a nice catch in short right field.
Zombro pitched the final three innings and allowed just one hit and struck out three to pick up his second save of the season.
The Hot Rods will look to win the four-game series with the Dragons on Sunday. Bowling Green will throw RHP Tobias Myers (6-3, 4.96) and RHP Andrew Jordan (1-1, 2.81) goes for the Dragons.
