WKU’s game at No. 20 Tennessee Tech canceled in 2nd inning

With two outs in the bottom of the second inning, and Western Kentucky leading No. 20 Tennessee Tech by a score of 1-0, everyone was called off the field Tuesday due to lightning within 10 miles of the field.
Following a 30-minute delay, it was decided that the game would not continue due to the potential for more lightning delays throughout the afternoon.
The Hilltoppers got their run in the top of the first. Luke Brown led off with a bunt single and came around to score on a bases-loaded fielder’s choice by Tyler Robertson.
Starter Troy Newell put up a zero in the first frame and retired the first two Golden Eagles in the second. He allowed a single and a walk allowed with two outs before the delay came.
WKU (21-29 overall, 11-16 Conference USA) finishes its regular season with a Thursday-to-Saturday series at Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton. All three games will be streamed on CUSA.tv.
