“The board appreciates the contributions of Bud Wethington during his tenure as CEO of T.J. Regional Health,” board Chairman Mike Bryant said Monday in a news release. “The board has made the decision not to renew his contract. The board is constantly considering what is best for our network and feels that at this time a change in leadership is appropriate.”

A T.J Regional Health spokesman said no additional comments about the board’s decision will be made at this time.

In 2005, Thornbury obtained a master’s degree in health care administration from Western Kentucky University. In March 2007, he was promoted to chief of patient care services. He is a current candidate for doctorate in health services administration at the University of Alabama-Birmingham.

Wethington was hired as CEO in July 2014.
