Hot Rods sweep Burlington

The Bowling Green Hot Rods completed a perfect road trip with a 2-1 win Sunday at Burlington (Iowa).

Bowling Green (18-11) scored two runs in the first inning and left-hander Josh Fleming and two relievers took it from there to give the Hot Rods a three-game sweep of Burlington and a 6-0 road trip that began with a three-game sweep at Clinton (Iowa). The Hot Rods have won eight straight.

Moises Gomez had three hits, including an RBI triple. Taylor Walls added two hits.

Fleming, making his BG debut, tossed five shutout innings to earn the win. He allowed two hits and five strikeouts.

Jose Disla allowed a run over 2 2/3 innings. Hunter Schryver pitching the final 1 1/3 innings to earn his third save of the season.

The Hot Rods will open a three-game series with Peoria (Ill.) at 6:35 p.m. Monday, the start of a six-game homestand.

Right-hander Johan Oviedo (1-2, 6.45) is scheduled to start for Peoria, with the Hot Rods starter to be determined.
