Lipscomb built a four-run lead Thursday and held on for a 5-4 win over Western Kentucky at the WKU Softball Complex.
The loss was the fourth straight for the Hilltoppers (26-24), who haven’t won since beating Marshall 4-1 on April 22. It’s the third time this season WKU has lost at least four consecutive games.
The Bisons led 2-1 after the fourth inning, then added three runs in the sixth to go up 5-1.
WKU responded in the bottom of the sixth with three runs. RBI hits from Maddie Bowlds, Rebekah Engelhardt and Kelsey McGuffin made it 5-4 Lipscomb.
WKU got their first two runners on base in the bottom of the seventh but didn’t score.
WKU will host Florida International this weekend in a Conference USA series. The Hilltoppers’ lone senior, Brittany Vaughn, will be honored Saturday before a doubleheader that starts at 1:05 p.m.
