Hot Rods drop fourth straight

The Bowling Green Hot Rods dropped a fourth straight game with a 6-5 loss at South Bend (Ind.) on Wednesday.

Bowling Green (3-4) rallied to tie when Carl Chester scored on an error in the ninth inning, but South Bend was able to walk it off when the Hot Rods failed to turn a double play in the bottom of the inning.

Vidal Brujan had two hits to pace the offense, while Chester had two RBIs.

Tyler Day took the loss after allowing one unearned run in 1 2/3 innings. Drew Strotman allowed three runs in five innings of work.

The series, and road trip, concludes at 6:05 p.m. Thursday. Right-hander Austin Franklin (1-0, 1.80) is scheduled to start for the Hot Rods. Lefty Taylor Thomas (0-1, 1.80) is slated to start for South Bend.
