John Hicks is seeing and hitting the ball well and early.

The Greenwood senior first baseman had two home runs for the Gators on Monday night in a 15-3 win at Warren Central.

Hicks hit a three-run homer in the first inning and added a two-run homer in the second.

He finished the game 2-for-3 at the plate with five RBIs. He had another RBI in Greenwood’s 9-4 win against the Dragons on Tuesday.

Hicks also had a grand slam in the Gators’ 10-2 victory over Livingston Central last week in Florida, giving him homers in three out of his last four at-bats.

“It’s pretty great,” Hicks said. “Coach has been talking about lining the ball out and making square contact. It really comes around when you’re making square contact. I got a couple of good pitches and I just didn’t miss on them at all.”

Greenwood wraps up the series with Warren Central at 6 p.m. Thursday.
