Purples rout Logan County 13-3 in five innings

Eli Thurman drove in four runs as Bowling Green baseball routed Logan County 13-3 on Monday night in five innings.

The Purples jumped out to an 11-0 lead after two innings led by Charlie Key’s three-run double in the first inning and eight-run second inning.

Thurman’s double in the second scored Eli Burwash and his two-out single later in the inning scored Evan Spader to make it 11-0.

Spader and Will Garske each drove in a pair of runs for the Purples (3-5).

Kaleb Justice’s three-run homer in the top of the third was the only scoring for Logan County (6-3).

Bowling Green travels to Allen County-Scottsville on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. and Logan County hosts Franklin-Simpson on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. for a District 13 game.

Softball

Franklin-Simpson 17, Hopkinsville 1 (3 innings)

The Lady Wildcats used 13 runs in the third inning to run-rule Hopkinsville Monday night. Maddie Utley and Lizzy Weems each drove in three runs while Ashlynn Flippin, Paiten Bush and Katie Henderson each brought in two.

Madison Davis and Danielle Coats combined for four strikeouts in the three-inning no-hitter for Franklin-Simpson (4-6).
