A domestic violence complaint resulted in the arrest of a Bowling Green man accused of holding his wife against her will and endangering the welfare of a child.
Deputies were called Thursday to 2287 Campbell Road, No. 30, where they spoke to Heather Stine, who said she and her husband had an argument and he left. She told deputies the argument was verbal only, but she was afraid of her husband Dale Stine, 32, because he had been using methamphetamine, according to his arrest citation.
About 45 minutes after the initial call, a neighbor called and said Dale Stine had returned to the home and drove back into the neighborhood “like a madman,” according to the citation.
When deputies returned to the home and knocked on the door, they could hear children in the living room call to their parents that law enforcement was knocking. A male voice inside the home told the children to come back. Another deputy arrived on the scene and saw a window that was unsecured. After being on scene with no answer for five minutes, deputies decided to enter the home.
“Due to the previous call less than an hour prior, the fact that he was supposedly using methamphetamine, the children notifying the parents we were there and then being summoned to the back, entry was made to check on the children’s and wife’s welfare,” the citation said.
A deputy entered through the window and unlocked the front door for other deputies to come inside where they found Dale Stine in the back bedroom, according to the citation.
Heather Stine told deputies that no violence had occurred and her husband was asleep and didn’t hear them, according to the citation. When deputies asked why he called the children back, he didn’t answer.
When a deputy spoke to Heather Stine separately, she told deputies her husband called the children back and wouldn’t let them answer the door. She said he also laid down on top of her and would not let her answer the door. She pointed out a suspected meth pipe with suspected meth inside the pipe, according to the citation. The items were next to Dale Stine’s house key in the top dresser drawer. Deputies also found seven knives within reach of children who are 4, 3 and 6 months old.
Dale Stine refused to answer any questions.
He was charged with second-degree unlawful imprisonment, endangering the welfare of a minor, first-degree possession of a controlled substance first offense (meth) and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was taken to the Warren County Regional Jail.
After being processed at the jail and asked three times if he had any contraband on him and denying that he had any, deputy jailers searched Dale Stine’s wallet and found a small plastic baggie with suspected meth in it that weighed 5.7 grams, according to a separate arrest citation.
He was additionally charged with first-degree promoting contraband and first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance first offense.
He is being held in lieu of a $5,000 cash bond.
