Western Kentucky picked up a pair of Class of 2018 football commitments Sunday, including its first quarterback commit of the class.

Quarterback Kevaris Thomas (Lakeland (Fla.) High School) and defensive back Que Reid (Jay M. Robinson High School, Concord, N.C.) both announced commitments Sunday to WKU.

Reid is a 5-foot-10, 182-pound prospect who also played running back in high school but is likely to play defensive back at WKU. He was recruited by defensive coordinator Clayton White.

Reid is the first North Carolinian in the class. He joins Shannon Bishop, Arthur Brathwaite, Cardavion Myers, Malik Occuir and Jayden Patterson as defensive backs committed to WKU.

Thomas is a 6-3, 230-pound dual-threat QB who was recruited by Tops linebackers coach Maurice Crum.

Thomas holds reported offers from Colorado State, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, South Alabama, South Florida, Temple and FCS school Liberty.

Thomas is the first QB in the class and the fifth Floridian, joining Brathwaite, Occuir, Russell Brown and Troy Ingle.

Reid and Thomas’ pledges, along with a decommitment Sunday by Florida athlete Maurquel Dillard, give coach Mike Sanford and his Hilltoppers 23 verbal commitments in the Class of 2018.

Dillard, a three-star prospect from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., tweeted Sunday that he was reopening his recruitment.
