Saul Brady reached another career milestone and set up the game-winning play to send his team back to the state championship game.
The Franklin-Simpson senior rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown while returning a fourth-quarter kickoff 84 yards to set up Carlos McKinney’s go-ahead touchdown run in the Wildcats’ 42-38 semifinal win Friday over Collins.
Brady also had seven tackles and an interception on defense for Franklin-Simpson.
“I came out here and played my heart out,” Brady said. “I’m really emotional and happy to win this game.”
Brady’s 94 rushing yards put him over 1,000 for the third straight season. He now has 3,840 rushing yards and 44 touchdowns for his career with one more game to play.
Franklin-Simpson is paired with Johnson Central for a rematch of last year’s 4A state title game, which the Golden Eagles won 48-0. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. CT Saturday at Kroger Field in Lexington.
