Christian Winn couldn’t be stopped in South Warren’s upset win over Bowling Green in the Class 5A regional final.
The senior running back rumbled his way to 166 yards on 35 carries and three touchdowns in the Spartans’ 28-21 victory.
His 3-yard run with 6:38 left for the go-ahead score gave South Warren its first win over Bowling Green in the schools’ second meeting.
“We prepared and no one really believed in us but the people we practice with every day,” Winn said. “We just came out and played to the best of our ability. I knew we could get the job done. It was just a matter of doing it. … Our main thing is we’re a more physical team and we wanted to make that an emphasis and we wanted to be more disciplined.”
Winn has 378 rushing yards and six TDs in three playoff games and has 836 yards for 14 scores this season.
