Greenwood sophomore Maggie Gholston helped the Lady Gators swim team get off to a strong start at the Rick Cohn Tiger Invitational in Hopkinsville on Saturday.

Gholston picked up individual wins in the 50-yard freestyle and 500-yard freestyle and was part of the team that won the girls’ 200-yard freestyle relay as Greenwood’s girls’ team finished with 439 points to edge Bowling Green for first place.

Gholston said it was a good start to the season for her and her teammates.

“I think we have a really strong girls’ team this year,” Gholston said. “I know that a lot of times the girls will get discouraged because our big rival is Bowling Green, so I think this is a good way – especially for the new girls – to kick off the season.”
