Preston Tarrence made the most of his first career varsity start Friday night against visiting Bardstown.

The Warren East junior linebacker, who had previously made most of his impact on special teams for the Raiders, had a hugely productive night in the rain in his team’s 36-6 victory.

Tarrence scored his first career touchdown early in the second quarter when he stepped in front of a pass for an interception that he returned 42 yards for a score.

The firsts kept coming for Tarrence, who blocked a punt and recorded a quarterback sack later in the game. He tallied three tackles in all.

“I was pretty pleased with the way I did,” Tarrence said. “We did good as a team overall, too. We really worked all week for that and we deserved the win.”
