Franklin-Simpson grad Joiner scores top-20 finish for WKU

Western Kentucky sophomore Mary Joiner (Franklin-Simpson Class of 2016) tied for 20th place Tuesday in Mercer’s Idle Hour Collegiate Championship held at the Idle Hour Golf & Country Club in Macon, Ga.
Joiner, the defending champion at Idle Hour, scored her third top-20 finish of the3 season with a 232 (74-78-80).
WKU finished second in the team standings behind only host Mercer.
The Lady Toppers are back in action Feb. 25-27 at the Edwin Watts Kiawah Island Classic in Kiawah Island, S.C.

Eastern Kentucky senior Jared Brown (South Warren Class of 2014) tied for 40th place Tuesday at Louisiana-Monroe’s Duck Commander Intercollegiate at Mystic Creek Golf Club in El Dorado, Ark.
Brown fired a 24-over par 240 (83-78-89) to help the Colonels finish sixth in the team standings.
Western Kentucky freshman Chase Landrum (Glasgow Class of 2017) tied for 50th place. Landrum’s 244 (81-80-83) helped the Hilltoppers finish eighth in the team standings.
WKU is back in action Feb. 12-13 at South Alabama’s Magnolia Grove Intercollegiate in Mobile, Ala.
EKU returns to action March 8 at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate in Pinehurst, N.C.

Kentucky Wesleyan sophomore Christian Tooley (Warren East Class of 2016) tallied a team-best 34th-place finish Tuesday at the Music City Classic hosted by Trevecca Nazarene at Foxland Harbor Golf Club in Gallatin, Tenn.
Tooley finished with a two-day total of 158 (80-78) to finish 16-over par.
The Panthers tied for 11th in the team standings.
Kentucky Wesleyan returns to action March 17-18 at the Saginaw Valley State Spring Invitat at Kearney Hill Links in Lexington.
