The Greenwood volleyball team will open defense of its Region 4 championship against District 15 runner-up Monroe County at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Warren East High School.

Pairings were determined Saturday, with Greenwood (31-2) in the opening round of the region tournament for the second straight season. The Lady Gators beat Monroe County (14-12) 3-0 in last year’s Region 4 Tournament and own a 2-0 victory over the Lady Falcons this season.

The other three first-round matchups will feature teams meeting for the first time this season.

Monday’s first game will feature District 13 champion Logan County (22-14) facing District 16 runner-up Russell County (16-12) at 6:30 p.m.

The first round will conclude with a pair of games Tuesday. District 16 champion Clinton County (19-13) will face District 13 runner-up Franklin-Simpson (13-13) at 6 p.m.

District 14 runner-up South Warren (18-19) will face District 15 champion Allen County-Scottsville (16-6) at 7:30 p.m.

The semifinals will be at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, with the finals scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
