Scott helps boost EKU women’s cross country to highest-ever regional ranking

Eastern Kentucky senior Ciara Scott (Bowling Green Class of 2014) helped her team reach its highest-ever NCAA Southeast Region ranking on the strength of an eighth-place finish in the Pre-National Invitational on Saturday in Louisville.
Scott had a scoring finish (88th, 21:06.9) on the 6K course at E.P. “Tom” Sawyer Park. EKU beat two nationally-ranked teams at the meet – No. 12 Ole Miss and No. 24 Missouri – as well as regionally ranked teams Northern Arizona, Virginia Tech, Louisville, Ohio State and Duke.
The Colonels are back in action Oct. 28 at the Ohio Valley Conference Championship on Oct. 28 in Charleston, Ill.

Austin Peay senior Sarah-Emily Woodward (Bowling Green Class of 2014) helped the Governors win Saturday’s UE Cross Country Invitational in Evansville, Ind.
Woodward scored a 22nd-place finish (21:38.6) on the 5K course for APSU.
Austin Peay is back in action Oct. 28 at the Ohio Valley Conference Championships in Charleston, Ill.

Centre senior Marisa Moore (Glasgow Class of 2014) helped the Colonels to a fourth-place finish in Friday’s Jenna Strong Fall Classic in Wilmington, Ohio.
Moore turned in a scoring finish of 40th overall, clocking a time of 20:05.6 on the 5K course.
Morehead State redshirt senior Taylor Montgomery (Barren County Class of 2013) finished 43rd overall in 20:08.3, helping her team to a fifth-place finish.
Centre is back in action Oct. 28 at the SAA Championships in Hampton, Ga.
Morehead State next competes Oct. 28 at the Ohio Valley Conference Championship in Charleston, Ill.

Campbellsville sophomore midfielder Brianna Baptiste (Logan County Class of 2016) scored the game-winning goal for the Tigers in a 1-0 women’s soccer win Tuesday over visiting Cumberlands.
Baptiste’s score, an unassisted goal, came in the 51st minute. The goal was the second of the season for Baptiste.
Campbellsville (5-9-1, 3-1-1 Mid-South Conference) is back in action Saturday at Shawnee State (Ohio).

Transylvania junior forward/midfielder Cecilia Walton (Bowling Green Class of 2015) tallied her second goal of the season in Saturday’s 4-0 win over Manchester (Ind.).
Transylvania (5-7-2, 3-2 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference) is back in action Wednesday at Franklin (Ind.).

Rose-Hulman senior Ashton Foushee (Glasgow Class of 2014) helped the Fightin’ Engineers claim a runner-up finish in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Golf Championships on Saturday and Sunday at Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville.
Foushee fired a two-round total of 162 (81-81) to place ninth overall in the tournament, the final event of the fall season for Rose-Hulman.
