The Tennessee Valley Authority announced a 1.5 percent retail rate increase, effective Sunday.
Warren Rural Electric Cooperative Corp. members will see an increase in their electric bills. For example, a member using 1,000 kilowatt hours of electricity will have a monthly increase of about $1.70.
WRECC will not have a local rate increase, the cooperative said in a news release.
WRECC’s last local rate increase was in 2011.
“We are doing everything in our power to keep costs as affordable as possible for our members. Through cost-saving efforts, combined with growth, we have been able to maintain service and reliability without having to add a local rate increase for six years. We realize that low rates and high reliability are the lifeblood of our local economy,” said Scott Ramsey, president and chief executive officer of WRECC.
