Foundation Christian Academy, located at 2480 Three Springs Road, won approval Thursday from the City-County Board of Adjustments for an amendment to its conditional-use permit that will allow the school to expand.
The amended permit will allow FCA to use all of the 40 acres it owns and expand its building and facilities, with the ultimate goal of adding high school grades. The school now serves about 210 students in kindergarten through eighth grade.

FCA President Chris Robison said the school has plans to add classrooms, a gymnasium, athletic fields, a greenhouse and an archery range. Installation of a solar array is a possibility.
The amended conditional-use permit will allow FCA to expand from a maximum of 185 students to as many as 750. Robison said the school has raised more than $1 million toward its goal of $1.3 million for the expansion. He hopes to have the increased classroom space and the gymnasium completed in time for the 2018-19 school year.
“Now that we’re operating debt-free, we are able to make the transition,” Robison told the Daily News last month. “It will be quite an investment to get the skilled teachers in to offer all the classes we want to offer, but we want to tackle it for the sake of the children.”
Robison did not reveal a timetable for expanding to a high school.
One condition of the amended permit – installation of a left turn lane at the entrance to the school – will not be met right away. According to the conditional-use permit staff report provided by the City-County Planning Commission of Warren County, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is not requiring the school to construct a turn lane at this time. KYTC plans call for widening Three Springs Road from Flealand to the intersection with Long Road.
At its Thursday meeting, the board of adjustments also approved an amended conditional-use permit to allow a day care on property zoned light industrial at 140 College St. The 0.19-acre site is approved for a maximum of 49 children aged 2 to 5.
