The game remained tied until the eighth, when Clinton shortstop Luis Rengifo greeted Hot Rods righty Orlando Romero into the game with a solo homer to begin the inning.

With the loss, the Hot Rods dropped their first series against the LumberKings since 2011. It was also their first series defeat since the opening series of the second half against the Fort Wayne (Ind.) TinCaps.

After winning five straight one-run games at one point during this winning stretch, the Hot Rods have now lost their last two one-run games to fall to 9-17 in those contests this year.

After an off day Tuesday, the Hot Rods will open a six-game homestand against the Western Division and the first of three games against the Burlington Bees.

Starting pitchers for Bowling Green and Burlington have yet to be determined.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. The Hot Rods have won their last seven games at home overall.
