Hot Rods blank Clinton

Adrian Navas and Peter Bayer combined on a five-hit shutout as the Bowling Green Hot Rods defeated Clinton (Iowa) 5-0 on Sunday.

It was the ninth shutout of the season for the Bowling Green pitching staff.

Navas worked seven innings for a third straight start, allowing four hits with seven strikeouts, and improved to 7-8 on the season. The right-hander has given up four runs total in his last three starts.

Bayer allowed one hit with three strikeouts to finish it off.

Garrett Whitley and Mike Brosseau both homered to spark the offense. Jonah Heim added three hits.

Bowling Green (46-45 overall, 15-9 second half) is scheduled wrap up the series and six-game road trip at 11 a.m. Monday.{&end}
