The Bowling Green Hot Rods’ franchise-tying nine-game win streak came to an end with a 3-1 loss at Kane County (Ill.) on Wednesday.
Mack Lemieux and two relievers combined to limit the Hot Rods to eight hits and deny Bowling Green (43-44 overall, 12-8 overall) a 10th straight win. It was the fourth nine-game win streak in franchise history, first accomplished in 2011 and duplicated on two occasions last season.
Josh Lowe drove home Bowling Green’s only run, and Jonah Heim finished with two hits.
J.D. Busfield took the loss, allowing two runs and seven hits with two strikeouts in five innings.
The series will continue at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Right-hander Angel Yepez (0-0, 2.45) is scheduled to start for the Hot Rods, with right-hander Curtis Taylor (3-4, 3.57) scheduled to start for Kane County.{&end}
