WC/BG Cal Ripken All-Stars fall in state championship game

The Warren County/Bowling Green Cal Ripken All-Stars earned a runner-up finish in the 12U state tournament Sunday in Elizabethtown.
After beating Ohio County 10-0 in the semifinals, the WC/BG squad dropped a 7-3 decision to Elizabethtown in the championship game.
Against Elizabethtown, WC/BG’s Linkin Lockhart was 2 for 3 and Chase Carver had two RBIs. Also for WC/BG, Colton Edwards had a hit and an RBI, and Dillon Maners, Caiden Murrell and Trayton Price each added a hit. Keaton Watt pitched four innings, allowing five hits while striking out eight. Price pitched the final two innings, allowing two hits while striking out two.
In the win over Ohio County, Lockhart was 3 for 3 and scored a pair of runs. Price hit two home runs and drove in three, Edwards and Caleb McCoy each went 2 for 3 with two RBIs, and Carver was 2 for 3 with an RBI. Jared Corbitt and Murrell chipped in with a hit apiece to back pitcher Preston Moore, who tossed four innings with two hits allowed and five strikeouts. Carver finished up on the mound for WC/BG.{&end}
