Harmon leads U16 National Team over Mexico

Bowling Green’s Zion Harmon continues to shine at the FIBA Americas U16 Championship for Men in Formosa, Argentina.
The rising freshman had a team-high 17 points and five assists for the 2017 USA Basketball Men’s U16 National Team in a dominant 127-52 victory over Mexico on Friday. USA (3-0) advances to Saturday’s medal semifinals as the top seed and will play either Argentina or Paraguay.
Harmon shot 5-of-11 from the field and was a perfect 4-for-4 from the free-throw line. He brought in four rebounds and also had three steals in 20 minutes on the floor.
Harmon’s team-high performance came after he scored 14 points against the Dominican Republic on Thursday and 11 points against Puerto Rico to open the tournament.
As an eighth-grader, Harmon averaged 16.8 points per game for Bowling Green High School and helped the Purples to their first state championship.
