The Bowling Green Hot Rods dropped their series opener 6-5 to the Lake County Captains on Friday night at Classic Park in Eastlake, Ohio.
Offensively, Bowling Green got a solo homer from third basemen Adrian Rondon to tie up the game at 1-1 in the second inning.
The score stayed that way until the seventh, when an RBI groundout from Rondon and an RBI single by outfielder Garrett Whitley put Bowling Green up 3-1.
After Lake County scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh on a two-run homer by Jose Vicente and a sacrifice fly, the Hot Rods retook the lead in the eighth. They got an RBI single by infielder Mike Brosseau, who then scored on a balk later in the frame to put Bowling Green up 5-4.
Lake County got an RBI single from outfielder Jose Medina to tie the game in the eighth and then a walk-off homer by outfielder Todd Issacs in the ninth inning against Hot Rods righty Brian McAfee to finish off the win.
With the loss, the Hot Rods dropped back-to-back games for the first time since May 20-21. They are 0-3 at Classic Park this year.
The Hot Rods will continue a two-week stretch on the road Saturday with the second game of the series against the Captains. Bowling Green right-hander Chris Pike will make his first start of the year, while the Captains will counter with lefty Juan Hillman.
First pitch is at 6 p.m. CDT at Classic Park.
