Former Hilltopper RB Wales heading to Redskins minicamp

Former Western Kentucky running back Anthony “Ace” Wales will head to minicamp with the Washington Redskins, WKU football announced on Twitter on Wednesday.

Wales rushed 237 times in 2016 for 1,621 yards and 27 touchdowns. He averaged 6.8 yards per carry and 124.7 yards per game.

The Louisville native, 5-foot-10 and 195 pounds, also caught 30 passes for 323 yards with two touchdowns.

Ten WKU players from the 2016 team are heading to the NFL either as draft picks, undrafted free agents or minicamp invitees: Wales, Keith Brown (Seattle Seahawks), Nick Dawson-Brents (Seahawks), Tyler Ferguson (Tennessee Titans), Omarius Bryant (Baltimore Ravens), Nolan Dowling (Kansas City Chiefs), Max Halpin (Tampa Bay Buccaneers), Forrest Lamp (Los Angeles Chargers), Taywan Taylor (Titans) and Darrell Williams Jr. (San Francisco 49ers).

The 10 join six former Hilltoppers currently listed on NFL rosters: George Fant (Seahawks), Brandon Doughty (Miami Dolphins), Jonathan Dowling (Buffalo Bills), Jack Doyle (Indianapolis Colts), Tyler Higbee (Los Angeles Rams) and Prince Charles Iworah (49ers).{&end}
