- Dale Augenstein, second from right, talks to people Tuesday before the one-year anniversary of his restaurant, Steamer Seafood.
Steamer Seafood has brought a little of the ocean to Bowling Green, owner Dale Augenstein told the 100 or so people gathered Tuesday for the restaurant’s one-year anniversary.
Augenstein said Bowling Green has been receptive of the restaurant.
“We’ve been keeping some statistics and we’ve served just shy of 200,000 in our first year,” he said. “We have brought in over 15,000 oysters and 1 million shrimp.”
To celebrate the monumental shrimp numbers, sales were planned for the evening as was live music.
A special seafood decorated cake was also available for guests at the anniversary ribbon cutting.
Operation PRIDE Executive Director Angie Alexieff presented the May Operation PRIDE commercial award to Augenstein for the transformation of the space, part of which was the Mariah Moore House. A facade of the old building, which was a home and numerous businesses over the years, is what remains.
The transformation of the interior includes rustic barnwood, water-related props and a giant copper fish, which Augenstein said, outside of Big Red, is likely the most photographed thing in Bowling Green.
