Western Kentucky has picked up its first Class of 2018 football commitment.

Offensive/defensive lineman Sam Stovall of Notre Dame High School in Chattanooga, Tenn., announced Friday on Twitter that he was committing to WKU.

“What a phenomenal start to #ThePursuit18,” Hilltoppers coach Mike Sanford tweeted shortly after Stovall announced his commitment.

Stovall, 6-foot-4 and 285 pounds, has reported scholarship offers from Appalachian State, Coastal Carolina, Florida Atlantic, Memphis, Middle Tennessee, UTSA and FCS schools Mercer and Richmond.

Stovall recorded 46 tackles as a junior in 2016.
