Smith homers twice as Lady Raiders beat Warren Central

Warren East’s Kendall Smith clubbed a pair of home runs and had three hits total as the host Lady Raiders earned a 13-0 softball win in five innings Thursday over Warren Central.

Warren East (13-3 overall, 5-1 District 14) also got three-hit games from Ashton Atkins and Nicki Gibbs, who had a triple. Sheridan Atkins and Shelby Trent added two hits each.

Cailyn Howard picked up the win for the Lady Raiders.

Allen County-Scottsville 1

Host Franklin-Simpson rallied for a 2-1 win over Allen County-Scottsville on Thursday.

Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the sixth, the Wildcats tied it with a run before scoring the winning run in the bottom of the seventh.

Ryan Dorris was 2-for-2 with a stolen base to lead Franklin-Simpson.

Matthew Crittenden pitched a scoreless inning of relief for the win. Zach Sliger started and went the first six innings for the Wildcats, allowing one unearned run off two hits and a walk. He struck out eight.

Girls’ Tennis

Bowling Green 5,

Barren County 0

Bowling Green picked up a 5-0 girls’ tennis victory over Barren County on Thursday.

Sydney Jordan, Hadley McCormick and Hannah Jukes earned singles victories for the Lady Purples.

Miriam Reber, Jordan Johnson, Isabel Atala and Campbell Richey picked up doubles wins for Bowling Green, which next plays Friday against Lipscomb Academy (Tenn.).

Boys’ Tennis

Greenwood 5,

Elizabethtown 0

Greenwood earned a 5-0 boys’ tennis win over Elizabethtown on Wednesday.

Singles winners for the Gators were Jacks Lancaster, Jonas Heartl and Phillip Proctor.

In doubles, Greenwood’s Chris Agro and Tanner Gann, and Austin Schneller and Jacob Young earned wins.
