Gators pounce Dragons 11-1

Greenwood’s baseball team started with an early lead and took off in the final three innings to beat Warren Central 11-1 Tuesday night at Greenwood High School.
The Gators scored five runs in the fifth inning and outhit the Dragons 12-1. Adam Schneller and Addison Harris each drove in two runs. John Hicks had three hits for the Gators (11-9).

Jordan Miller had a RBI groundout in the top of the fifth inning to score the lone run for Warren Central (0-17).
Nate Cunningham earned the complete-game win by allowing one hit and one run with five strikeouts and a walk.
Franklin-Simpson 2, Russellville 1
Host Franklin-Simpson picked up a 2-1 baseball win over Russellville on Tuesday.
The Wildcats rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh to earn the win, with Dawson Gardner’s RBI single highlighting the rally.
Franklin-Simpson (14-3) had just two hits. Aaron Hammers earned the win with a scoreless inning of relief. Franklin-Simpson starter Donnie Alderson pitched six innings, allowing one run off six hits and a walk while striking out eight.

Jordan Blick took the loss in a complete-game effort for the Panthers, allowing two runs off two hits and five walks. He struck out five.
Blick also led Russellville (5-10) at the plate with three hits and an RBI.
Butler County 9, Trinity (Whitesville) 2
Host Butler County earned a 9-2 baseball win over Trinity (Whitesville) on Tuesday.
Warren Cameron had two hits and two RBIs, and Ty Burden added two hits and an RBI for the Bears. Cameron also stole two bases and Burden had one.
Blake Graham started and pitched four innings for the win, striking out eight. Cameron pitched the final three innings, striking out six.
SOFTBALL
Franklin-Simpson 3, Russellville 0
Franklin-Simpson scored all three runs in the first inning to improve to 10-8 on the season.
Lizzy Weems hit a home run and Jessie Beller had a two-run single for the Lady Wildcats’ scoring.
Franklin-Simpson outhit Russellville (3-10) 5-1.
Madison Davis earned the win in seven innings by allowing the one hit and five strikeouts.
