Smith homers in Lady Raiders’ shutout win at Bowling Green

Cailyn Howard threw a complete-game shutout to help Warren East’s softball team blank Bowling Green 10-0 in five innings.
Howard gave up four hits and struck out five batters, while the Lady Raiders (11-3) built a quick lead in the first two innings.
Kendall Smith hit a two-run home run in the top of the second to help build a 6-0 lead. Olivia Price and Nicki Gibbs each had two hits and Kelsey Sparks tripled in the fifth to make the lead 9-0.
Nataia Martin had two hits for Bowling Green (2-6).
Logan County 4, Russellville 3
Logan County’s Abby Canler hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh to edge District 13 rival Russellville 4-3 on Thursday.
Russellville scored three runs in the third inning to take a 3-2 lead, but the Lady Cougars rallied to score on an error in the bottom of the fourth and Canler’s walk-off with one out in the seventh to score Rosie Kerchenski.
Brea Croslin hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the second for Logan County (6-5).
Tara Gilbert went the distance for Russellville (3-8), allowing all four runs on five hits.
Barren County 12, Monroe County 2
Brylee Pickerell hit a two-run homer in the first inning for Monroe County (7-7), but the Trojanettes stormed back for the 12-2 win in five innings.
Barren County (9-3) scored six runs in the third inning and totaled 15 hits. Madison Hagan hit two home runs and was 3-for-4 batting while scoring four runs herself.
Jordan Crist had three RBIs. Maddie Green went five innings and gave up three hits for the Trojanettes.
Baseball
Christian County 1, Logan County 0
Cameron Crider’s RBI single in the third inning was all Christian County needed for the 1-0 victory over Logan County.
Crider’s single was the only hit allowed by Ethan Smock, who pitched a complete game for the Cougars and issued five strikeouts and four walks.
Logan County (12-4) got three hits from Austin Rayno, Jackson Campbell and Nick Wooden.
