Brown homers in Purples’ 7-4 win

Host Bowling Green started hot with a four-run lead after one inning and held off Daviess County for a 7-4 baseball win on Wednesday.

Bowling Green (10-5) collected 12 hits, highlighted by Luke Brown’s home run in the first inning.

Tyler Stahl drove in three runs and batted was 3-for-4 at the plate, and pitched the first two innings to earn the win without allowing a hit.

Daviess County (6-6) chipped away with runs in the third through sixth innings to make it 6-4, but Stahl’s two-out single scored Brown in the bottom of the sixth for the final score.

Barren County 2, Glasgow 0

Zach Day and Colton Montgomery drove in the only two runs Barren County needed to top Glasgow 2-0.

Montgomery put the Trojans (7-7) on the board with a two-out single in the second inning and Day scored Isaac Reynolds in the fourth.

Justin Combs earned the win in 4 2/3 innings. Glasgow pitcher Dalton Shoemake tossed 12 strikeouts in the complete game for the Scotties (5-8).

Softball

Barren County 2, Glasgow 0

Jordan Crist tossed a two-hit shutout to help the Trojanettes beat Glasgow 3-0.

Connor Groce doubled in the bottom of the fourth to score Maddie Green and Crist drove in a run to put Barren County up 2-0.

Mallory Pedigo’s RBI double in the sixth gave the Trojanettes (8-3) all they needed to win. Crist earned the win by striking out five batters and allowing just one run. Nadia Poore and Kylee Jackson got the only two hits for Glasgow (7-5).

Franklin-Simpson 11, Todd County Central 1

Dru Knight threw a no-hitter and the Lady Wildcats handled Todd County Central 11-1 in five innings.

Knight struck out four and walked three batters in the win. Alley Pendleton helped Franklin-Simpson jump out to a 6-0 lead in the first two innings and finished 3-for-4 at bat with two RBIs and three runs scored.

Makinlee Webb also drove in two runs. Franklin-Simpson (9-5) poured on five runs in the fifth and took advantage of seven errors by Todd County Central (1-9).

AC-S 15, Monroe County 2

Ryley Whitney and Madi Gregory drove in three runs apiece to lead visiting Allen County-Scottsville to a 15-2 win over Monroe County on Wednesday.

Whitney, Kalee Skaggs and Kali Mutter all homered for the Lady Patriots.

Whitney, Gregory and Allison Byrn finished with two hits apiece to lead AC-S (7-6).

Girls’ tennis

Bowling Green 8, Henderson Co. 0

Bowling Green picked up an 8-0 girls’ tennis win over visiting Henderson County on Wednesday.

Sydney Johnson, Hadley McCormack, Hannah Jukes, Raegan Borders, Grace Forbes and Elena Amonette all won in singles for the Lady Purples.

In doubles, Miriam Reber, Jordan Johnson, Isabel Atala and Campbell Richey posted wins for Bowling Green. The Lady Purples face Warren East on Thursday.
