UTSA (16-15 overall, 6-6 Conference USA) took a 3-0 lead in the first inning when Bryan Arias hit a two-run home run off Hilltoppers’ starter Evan Acosta, with Chris Estrada adding an RBI double later in the inning. Kevin Elder relieved the lefty with two outs in the first and ended up with five innings pitched on the afternoon with two strikeouts and three runs allowed.

WKU (11-22, 4-8) got on the board in the third, when Colie Currie doubled to right field with two outs and was brought home by a Peter chopper up the middle to make the score 4-1. Currie extended his on-base streak to a team-best 12 games with the two-bagger and scored his 21st run of the year.

But UTSA added a run in each of the fifth, sixth and seventh frames to get to the final of 7-1 on Sunday.

Jackson Sowell capped the afternoon with 1.2 perfect innings out of the bullpen, retiring 4-of-5 Roadrunners on strikeouts. Nathan Methvin entered the game as a pinch hitter in the sixth and went 2-for-2 with a pair of singles to left field.

The Hilltoppers travel to Nashville to take on Lipscomb for a 6 p.m. first pitch Tuesday. It will be the second game in a home-and-home season series, as the Bisons defeated WKU 10-4 in the first meeting Feb. 28 at Nick Denes Field.{&end}
