Hot Rods fall at Fort Wayne

The Bowling Green Hot Rods were unable to complete the comeback, falling 3-2 at Fort Wayne (Ind.) on Sunday.

Bowling Green (2-2) rallied from two runs down to tie in the seventh, but Fort Wayne (2-2) took advantage of two errors in the bottom of the inning to score the winning run.

The Hot Rods were held to four hits – one each from Adrian Rondon, Garrett Whitley, Jonah Heim and Rene Pinto.

Deivy Mendez took the loss in relief, allowing one run with five strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings.

Travis Ott allowed one earned run and five hits with five strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings.

Bowling Green will begin a three-game series with Lansing (Mich.) at 6:35 p.m. Monday, the start of a six-game home stand.

Right-hander Adrian Navas is scheduled to start for the Hot Rods, with Osman Gutierrez scheduled to start for the Lugnuts.{&end}
