Campbell stars for Logan County in Classic

Behind a monster effort at the plate by senior Jackson Campbell, Logan County’s baseball team won two of three games in the William Workman Spring Classic in Clarksville, Tenn.
Campbell, a Belmont University signee, finished the three-game stretch with two home runs and eight RBIs. His best performance came in Saturday’s 12-5 win over Waverly Central (Tenn.), when Campbell connected on a go-ahead, two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning. Campbell finished that game with three hits, including the homer and a double, and five RBIs.
A night earlier in a 12-1 win over Pope John Paul II (Tenn.), Campbell had three hits including a home run and three RBIs.
Also for Logan against Waverly, Bradley Taylor had three hits, Koby Wall ws 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Third Bell went 2-for-4 with an RBI.In Saturday’s 7-4 loss to Beech (Tenn.), Kaleb Justice was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, and Bell went 2-for-4 and scored a run.
On Friday against Pope John Paul II, Bell added two hits and an RBI, and Taylor had two hits including a triple and an RBI. Ethan Smock earned the win after tossing five innings, allowing two hits and no earned runs while striking out six.
Warren East 4, McLean County 3
Warren East wrapped up a perfect record in the Warren East Invitational with a 4-3 win over McLean County on Saturday at Western Kentucky’s Nick Denes Field.
Colson Elkins was 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Ty Colson, Ryan Hawks and Matt Alford also added RBIs for the Raiders. Corey Skaggs picked up the win in relief for Warren East (9-4).
On Friday, the Raiders tallied a 2-1 win over Mason County. Clay Wagoner pitched six solid innings for the win, allowing one earned run while striking out four. Hawks got the final two outs for the save.
Ty Stringfield led East at the plate with two hits and two RBIs, and Austin Hymer added two hits.{&end}
