Franklin-Simpson wins pair at Cal Ripken Experience

Franklin-Simpson’s baseball team picked up a pair of wins Tuesday in the Cal Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
The Wildcats opened with a 9-2 win over Middlesboro, then held on for a 6-5 win over Monticello (Va.).
Against Middlesboro, Jordan Jones was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs. Hunter Janes was 2-for-4 with a double, a stolen base and an RBI, and Jacob Curtis went 2-for-4 with a double. James Kummer added two RBIs for the Wildcats.
Ryan Dorris earned the win after coming on in relief. Dorris pitched five innings, allowing two runs (one earned) while striking out three.
Janes and Jordan Jones had two hits and an RBI each against Monticello, with Janes tallying another double. Dawson Gardner added two RBIs.
Cade Harvey started and got the win, allowing three runs (one earned) in five innings.
He struck out five.
Franklin-Simpson (9-1) plays Boyd County and West Carter in the Cal Ripken Experience on Wednesday.
Logan County 14, Cumberland County 4
Host Logan County picked up a 14-4 baseball win over Cumberland County in five innings on Tuesday.
Kaleb Justice was 3-for-4 with a home run, a double and four RBIs to lead the Cougars. Justice also scored two runs. Bradley Taylor also went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs, and scored twice.
Also for Logan County (10-1), Nick Wooden was 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs, Third Bell went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI, and Jackson Campbell was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI.
Tommy Krohn pitched all five innings for the win, allowing four runs (two earned) while striking out nine.
The Cougars are back in action Friday against Pope John Paul II (Tenn.) in the William Workman Spring Classic in Clarksville, Tenn.

Greenwood 7
Greenwood dropped an 8-7 decision to Louisville’s Pleasure Ridge Park on Tuesday in the Cal Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach.
Addison Harris led the Gators with a 2-for-4 day at the plate, including a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored. Jack Blair chipped in with a double and two RBIs, and Connor Cline also had two RBIs for Greenwood (5-7). The Gators also dropped an 8-2 decision to Lawrence County on Tuesday in the same tournament.
Greenwood is back in action Thursday against West Carter in the Cal Ripken Experience.
