Bray earns first collegiate victory for Cumberlands

University of the Cumberlands senior Brantly Bray (Allen County-Scottsville Class of 2012) earned his first career collegiate victory with a scoreless relief appearance in Tuesday’s 9-8 road win over Milligan (Tenn.).

Bray pitched a scoreless inning, striking out one, to earn the victory.

Cumberlands (29-10) is back in action Friday against visiting Mid-American Conference rival Lindsey Wilson.

Centre senior Trevor Brewer (Greenwood Class of 2013) drove in a pair of runs in the Colonels’ 8-7, 10-inning road loss to Berea on Tuesday.

Centre (14-12) is back in action Saturday at home for a doubleheader vs. Southern Athletic Association rival Hendrix (Ark.).

Tennessee Martin junior Aeron Smith collected a pair of hits and an RBI in Tuesday’s softball doubleheader against visiting Memphis.

In the opener, Smith had a single and scored a run in a 5-4 loss.

Smith was 1-for-3 with an RBI in Game 2, which Memphis won 6-2.

UT Martin (25-11) is back in action Saturday with a home doubleheader against Ohio Valley Conference rival Murray State.

Georgetown junior outfielder Katie Young (Allen County-Scottsville Class of 2014) tallied three hits in a softball doubleheader sweep of visiting Shawnee State (Ohio) on Tuesday.

In Georgetown’s 3-2 in the opener, Young was 1-for-3 with a double, stole a base and scored a run.

Young went 2-for-3 with two runs scored in Georgetown’s 9-1 win in Game 2.

Georgetown (25-8 overall, 8-3 Mid-South Conference) is back in action Friday at conference rival Campbellsville.

Campbellsville senior Brittany Rippy (Allen County-Scottsville Class of 2013) totaled three hits in a doubleheader softball sweep of host Cumberland (Tenn.) on Tuesday.

Rippy went 2-for-2 in the Tigers’ 5-2 win in the opener, then added a 1-for-3 effort with an RBI in No. 6 Campbellsville’s 13-0 win in the nightcap.

Campbellsville (27-7, 14-0 Mid-South Conference) hosts conference rival Georgetown on Friday for a doubleheader.

Alabama Huntsville senior outfielder Sarah Jordan (Greenwood Class of 2013) tallied a sacrifice fly RBI in Tuesday’s 9-1 softball win over Gulf South Conference foe Miles (Ala.).

UAH (29-10, 15-6 GSC) is back in action Saturday with a home doubleheader against Valdosta State.
