Cunningham pitches Gators to road win

Greenwood’s Nate Cunningham pitched six shutout innings to lead the visiting Gators to a 3-0 baseball win over Russellville on Thursday.

Cunningham allowed four hits and one walk while striking out nine to earn the victory. Mac Ausbrooks pitched the final inning for the save, striking out two.

Greenwood (1-2) was led offensively by Addison Harris (2-for-3, one run, one stolen bases) and Ausbrooks (2-for-2, one RBI). Dell Henk added an RBI for the Gators.

Greenwood returns to action Friday at LaRue County for a 6 p.m. game. Russellville (1-1) is scheduled to play at McLean County at 6 p.m. Friday.

Warren East 10, Allen Co.-Scottsville 4

Host Warren East had a produced a strong offensive performance to beat Allen County-Scottsville 10-4 on Thursday in Region 4 baseball action.

Ty Stringfield was 3-for-4 with two runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base to lead the Raiders. Ryan Hawks added a 2-for-4 effort with a double and three RBIs, and Ty Colson was 2-for-3 with a double and three runs scored in the win.

Also for Warren East (2-0), Davion Downey hit his second homer of the season and had three RBIs, two runs scored and a stolen base; Matt Alford had two RBIs, scored a run and stole a base; Dakota Basham went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and Chauncey Greer was 1-for-1 with two runs scored and a stolen base.

Hawks earned the win, pitching five scoreless innings. He allowed two hits and a walk while striking out seven.

For ACS (0-3), Sheldon Peay wen 2-for-3 with an RBI and scored a run. Peay also started and took the loss, allowing two earned runs in four innings. He struck out six.

Warren East is back in action Friday at 5 p.m. against visiting Glasgow. ACS host DuPont Manual on Saturday at noon, then hosts Grayson County at 4 p.m. Saturday.

Logan County 6, Bowling Green 0

Ethan Smock fired six scoreless innings to lead host Logan County to a 6-0 baseball win over Bowling Green on Thursday.

Smock earned the win after allowing two hits and a walk while striking out seven. Nick Wooden pitched the final inning, striking out two.

Third Bell led the Cougars at the plate, going 1-for-3 with a double and three RBIs. Also for Logan County (4-0), Jackson Campbell was 3-for-3 with two runs scored, Austin Rayno was 2-for-4 with a stolen base and Dylan Penick had an RBI and a stolen base.

Logan returns to action Friday at Muhlenberg County. Game time is 5:30 p.m.

Bowling Green (0-2) is at McCracken County for a noon game Saturday.
