Orange City, Fla. – Dr. Navnit C. Doshi (“N.C.”), age 81, died Saturday morning, February 25th, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Salboni, India on May 17th, 1935. He came to the U.S. in 1960 for his medical training in Tennessee and Kentucky. After completing specialty training at the University of Glasgow, Scotland, he became a Member of Royal College of Physicians. N.C. then went back to India and married his beautiful bride, Gita. N.C. wanted to return to the U.S. and found a welcoming home in Kentucky, initially serving the community of Whitesburg and then settling in Bowling Green in 1974. He joined the Graves Gilbert Clinic as their first Indian physician and practiced Internal Medicine, faithfully serving the greater Bowling Green community for 36 years. N.C. was known for his patience and gentle manner especially with his elderly patients. N.C. retired in 2010, and he and Gita moved to Orange City, Florida in 2015.
N.C. is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Gita N. Doshi and his loving children, daughter Nita Sumida and husband Kevin of McLean, VA, daughter Seema Kerrigan and husband Patrick of Franklin, MA and son Daven Doshi of Gainesville, FL. He adored his 5 grandsons Brennen, Logan, and Kevin Sumida, and Liam and Grayson Kerrigan. His three children all chose careers as physicians having been inspired by his love and dedication to patient care.
A small service will be held Thursday, March 2nd in Orange City, Florida. A memorial service will be held in Bowling Green at a later date.
