A walk and a letter-writing campaign are planned to recognize the area’s diversity and to lobby lawmakers regarding immigration and refugee issues.

A Unity Walk will start at 4 p.m. Saturday at First Christian Church, 1106 State St., where representatives from the International Center and the Islamic Center will share brief reports and prayers.

After the vigil, participants will walk in “solidarity” to Christ Episcopal Church, 1215 State St., where refreshments and advocating resources will be available, along with the potential for casual conversation, according to a news release.

Sponsors include First Christian Church, the Islamic Center, the International Center, Christ Episcopal Church and the Bowling Green Women’s Intercultural Cafe.

An organization called 2kLettersKY is hosting a letter-writing event from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Warren County Public Library main branch at 1225 State St.

The event’s Facebook page calls participants to “join us in voicing our concerns to our federal and state lawmakers about anti-immigrant and – refugee acts and legislation. Let them know that we expect better – and that we are watching. We will also be collecting donations to Bowling Green’s International Center for local refugee families. Right now they most need diapers, wipes, hygiene supplies of all kinds, children’s shoes and children’s clothes.”
