Kevin Snyder spent his high school years listening to songs by the band the Eagles.

“They were one of the most popular groups,” he said.

“That’s what I grew up liking the most. It was probably one of my first concerts, too.”

Snyder will sing lead on Eagles songs that featured the late frontman Glenn Frey in Orchestra Kentucky’s “One of These Nights: A Symphonic Tribute to the Eagles” at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Southern Kentucky Performing Arts Center at 601 College St. Ticket prices range from $17 to $42 and may be purchased by phone at 270-846-2426, in person at the orchestra office at 1046 Elm St. or online at orchestrakentucky.org.

Bhrett Puckett will sing lead on Eagles songs that featured frontman Don Henley. The concert will also have new arrangements by Brad Ritchie with the orchestra and The Rewinders.

“It’s the first time we’ve done it with the orchestra in Bowling Green,” orchestra Conductor and Music Director Jeff Reed said.

“We did it because we were hired to do this in (other) cities in the United States. It’s not an elevator music show.”

The concert will feature the Eagles’ biggest hits, including “Peaceful Easy Feeling,” “Take It to the Limit,” “Desperado,” “Heartache Tonight” and more. The group didn’t use an orchestra in most of their music, Reed said.

“The goal is to add it without taking away from the original recordings,” he said.

Snyder said he likes the Eagles song “I Can’t Tell You Why.”

“It’s got a really good melody,” he said.

“It’s got one of those melodies that people like when they hear it.”

His favorite song, however, is “Take It Easy.”

“It’s a feel good song,” he said.

“It’s the first song my wife heard me sing.”

What Snyder likes about the Eagles’ songs are the lyrics, the harmonies and that every song tells a story.

“A lot of these songs are like old friends. You cannot hear a song for a long time and hear it on the radio and it brings back memories,” he said. “It’s always there for you.”

Retro Series sponsors are Jim and Darlene Johnson and Jim Johnson Nissan/Hyundai.

The concert is co-sponsored by Shelton CPAs, attorneys English, Lucas, Priest and Owsley and First Choice Home Medical.
