Joiner tied for 4th after 1st day at Idle Hour

Freshman Mary Joiner is tied for fourth individually, and the Western Kentucky women’s golf team is tied for fifth as a unit after the first day of Mercer’s Idle Hour Collegiate Championship.
Joiner shot a 1-under 71 in Monday’s second round after an opening 76 earlier in the day for a two-round total of 147 at the par-72, 6,136-yard Idle Hour Country Club in Macon, Ga.
The Lady Toppers carded a two-round total of 604 (305-299) and are tied with Cincinnati for fifth in the 12-team field. Troy leads at 596.
Junior Georgina Blackman is tied for 16th with a 151 (74-77) total, and freshman Abigail Smee is tied for 35th at 154 (77-77) – the lowest 36-hole score of her career.
Juniors Emily Alexander (78-78) and Katie Story (82-74) are both tied for 43rd at 156, while junior Elizabeth Cason is 68th at 174 (91-83) while competing as an individual.
Troy’s Fatima Cano is the individual leader with a 2-under 142 total.
Tuesday’s final round was slated to begin at 7:45 a.m. CDT with a shotgun start.
