An Allen County man is accused of possession and distribution of child pornography.
William Crowe, 32, of Scottsville, is charged with 100 counts of possession of a matter portraying the sexual performance by a minor and one count of distribution of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor. All charges are Class D felonies.
Crowe was one of 10 people arrested during a nine-county roundup that resulted in a combined total of more than 400 counts of possession of child pornography or soliciting a minor during Operation Shielded Child, an investigation conducted by Kentucky Attorney General Andy Beshear, according to a release from Beshear’s office.
Crowe was the only person arrested in this area.
At the request of local law enforcement, Beshear’s Cyber Crimes Unit over the last several weeks expanded its online child protection and law enforcement efforts in Allen, Boone, Franklin, Garrard, Hardin, Jessamine, Kenton, Scott and Shelby counties.
The 10-day Operation Shielded Child involved cyber-crime investigators from the Attorney General’s Office investigating individuals accused of possessing and distributing child pornography and those who solicit minors for sex online.
Kentucky State Police, Homeland Security Investigations and police departments in Georgetown, Frankfort, Lancaster, Nicholasville and Shelbyville assisted the attorney general’s office.
Crowe is lodged in the Allen County Detention Center. A bond has not been set, according to online jail records.
